Russia’s Small Diameter Bomb-Like Weapon Seen In Action For The First Time

The latest iteration of Russia’s Geran long-range one-way attack drone features a jet engine and is apparently being considered for launch from aircraft, to boost its range. The new drone, apparently first used at the beginning of this year, underlines Russia’s continued development of these drones, which bear the brunt of its relentless strikes on Ukraine, which ramp up during the winter months. It further points to Russia seeking to field drones that are better able to evade Ukraine’s air defenses, which are increasingly tailored to these kinds of threats.

Russia Launched The Largest Drone Attack On Ukraine Of The War

An apparent Ukrainian drone attack targeted Russia’s Engels-2 Air Base in the Saratov region 300 miles from the Ukrainian border, according to available imagery. At this stage it’s unclear whether any Russian aircraft were damaged in the incident, although there are indications that the primary target was a weapons storage area. Long-range bombers flying from the base regularly attack Ukraine and the airfield, and other like it, have long been high-priority targets for Kyiv.

Massive Explosion Rocks Key Bomber Base Deep Inside Russia

For the first time since 1997, the Russian Navy’s nuclear-powered battlecruiser Admiral Nakhimov is finally back in the water and moving under its own power, after years of repair work and modernization. The milestone comes after the 28,000-ton battlecruiser’s two nuclear reactors went back online earlier this year and the warship is now expected to become the future flagship of the Russian fleet, superseding sister vessel the Pyotr Veliky.
