Air Force Reveals Tests Of Supposed Record-Setting Scramjet Engine From Northrop Grumman

The Air Force recently broke the record for the highest thrust producing air-breathing hypersonic engine the service has ever tested in its history, at least that we know about. Northrop Grumman built the scramjet engine for the Air Force Research Laboratory and its development comes amid a general renaissance in all things hypersonic across the U.S. military.

Northrop And Raytheon Have Been Secretly Working On Scramjet Powered Hypersonic Missile

Raytheon and Northrop Grumman have revealed that they have been working together on a scramjet-powered hypersonic cruise missile, which uses an engine that is entirely 3D-printed. Their design is competing against one from Lockheed Martin under the Defense Advanced Research Project’s Hypersonic Air-breathing Weapon Concept program, or HAWC.
