# Watch Boeing’s New KC-46 Tanker Make An Aggressive Arrival To The Paris Air Show

Boeing [is having](<https://onemileatatime.com/emirates-777x-order/>) a [tough time](<https://www.timesofisrael.com/pilots-fear-for-fire-safety-of-dreamliner-planes-also-used-by-el-al-report/>) as [of late](<https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/europe/boeing-says-sorry-for-max-crashes-seeks-renewed-trust/2019/06/17/e5c7ef1a-90e5-11e9-956a-88c291ab5c38_story.html>) and the [KC-46 Pegasus tanker](<https://the-drive-qa.dev.gigashock.com/the-war-zone/27268/this-is-what-the-remote-boom-operators-station-on-a-kc-46-tanker-really-looks-like>) has been [one of the many thorns](<https://the-drive-qa.dev.gigashock.com/the-war-zone/25896/usaf-finally-accepts-its-first-kc-46a-tanker-but-the-design-still-needs-years-worth-of-fixes>) in the company's side. But there is good news. The militarized 767 derivative is making its inaugural appearance at the biennial and extremely high-profile Paris Air Show at Le Bourget Airport this week. [International sales](<https://www.twz.com/22683/boeing-reportedly-blocks-competitor-from-israeli-air-force-tanker-competition>) of the type could help Boeing recoup the billions of dollars in developmental cost overruns it has had to swallow under its fixed price contract with the USAF. So, making a big impression with leaders of foreign air arms and procurement officials is quite important. Boeing appears to have wanted to kick this campaign off early judging by the KC-46's 'unique' arrival to the show.

The big gray tanker came swooping in on short final, floating over the runway's centerline before realigning and plopping down with a thud, wings bouncing a bit from the abrupt arrival. This was followed by a short landing roll. The arrival was impressive, but also a bit peculiar:

This is just the first of what will be a crush of exciting aerospace and defense news coming out of Paris this week, as well as some exhilarating flying displays.
